Knyght Ryder is a five-piece live band from Long Beach, California, playing the biggest songs of the 80s, 90s, 2000s and hip-hop with no backing tracks. Together since 2002 with more than 1,600 shows behind them, they have opened for George Lopez at Radio City Music Hall and have held down Friday nights at Gaslamp in Long Beach for over 20 years.
Knyght Ryder started in Long Beach in 2002 with a simple idea: play the songs everybody knows, the way they sound best, which is loud, live and by real people. More than 1,600 shows later, the current lineup has been on stage together since 2013.
Their first paying gig was an Earthlink corporate party at the L.A. Convention Center. Since then they have played 22 dates as the opening act for George Lopez, including Radio City Music Hall, Boston's Wang Theatre, San Francisco's Warfield and the Santa Barbara Bowl. Corporate clients include Toyota, Wells Fargo, DirecTV, Disneyland, Oakley and Altria. They played the Laurel Canyon wedding of Donald Faison and CaCee Cobb, covered by People, and the Vermont wedding of Arden Myrin and Dan Martin, covered by The New York Times.
At home, Knyght Ryder has played Friday nights at Gaslamp in Long Beach for over 20 years. Cities across Southern California book them for summer concerts, including the City of Long Beach's annual show in El Dorado Park, Marina Park in Newport Beach, Norwalk, and the I Love Downey Festival. Cal State Long Beach picked them to help kick off its 75th anniversary.
The band knows over 300 songs, and no two sets are the same. Clients tell us the songs they really want and the ones to skip, and the band writes the rest of the set for the crowd in front of them. No backing tracks. Five sharply dressed musicians and a full dance floor.
Please welcome, from Long Beach, California, with more than 1,600 shows and every note played live: Knyght Ryder!
