Pricing

We know we're not the cheapest band out there, and we get that we don't fit every budget. Here's what it costs, up front, so you can plan before you ever talk to us. Every rate includes up to two hours of live music, the full band and all of our gear, for events within an hour of Long Beach.

What else might be on the quote

Most events only need the base rate plus sound. Everything here is optional or only applies in certain situations, and we pass vendor costs through with no markup.

Sound, lighting and production$1,500 to $2,500 from our production partner, at cost. Includes the system, the techs, wireless mics for toasts and inputs for your own playlists, which usually means you don't need a DJ. Happy to work with your vendor instead.
Event insurance$125 for a $1 million policy or $180 for $2 million, only if your venue requires it. Actual cost.
Extra setsWeddings and corporate: $2,250 per 40 minutes, sound included. Parties: $1,750 per 40 minutes, band only. Honestly, two hours is plenty for most crowds.
Learning a special song$500 per song, any genre, any era. Anything already on our song list is free.
MC duties$350 flat if you want us to make the announcements, though a friend or family member usually does it better. We can also recommend a full MC/DJ ($750 to $1,500).
MealsIf we're on site more than four hours, a meal for the five of us (and the sound crew). Pizza, tacos, whatever's easy. Or a $15 lunch / $25 dinner buyout per member.
TravelBeyond an hour's drive, from $500. Beyond two hours, from $750. Overnight trips add $1,000 plus travel costs, all disclosed before you sign anything.
HolidaysNew Year's Eve starts at $10,000. Halloween, Memorial Day, the 4th of July and Labor Day add $1,000. New Year's Day adds $1,500. We take Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas off.
Power and stageThree 20-amp circuits indoors, or two 6,500-watt generators outdoors. A 16' x 24' stage is ideal for big events, but we'll make a backyard work. Below 68 degrees outside, two heat lamps by the stage, please.

Questions people ask

Why do you publish prices when other bands don't?

A lot of bands price each event individually so they can charge as much as they think you can afford. Someone getting married in a Long Beach backyard probably doesn't have the same budget as someone at a Laguna resort, but it seems wrong to charge different amounts for the same show. When we shop for anything, the first thing we look for is the price. So here it is.

Are your prices firm?

We stay very close to this structure for almost every gig, but nothing is set in stone. Charity events, an open weekday, unusual circumstances, a one-off that's too fun to pass up: it never hurts to ask.

Why do different events cost different amounts?

Different events take different amounts of time, planning and work before, during and after the show. A wedding usually means two hours of music but six or more hours on site, plus a lot of planning together. That's it, really.

Do you need a deposit?

For the most part, no. You pay in full by the day of the event. If we have to pay for sound, lighting or travel up front, we may ask for that part in advance. Mostly, we trust you.

How do I hold a date without a deposit?

Tell us you want the date and we put it on our calendar. If someone else asks for it, we come to you first and ask whether you want to confirm. Then we sign a simple contract, or treat the email thread as our agreement, whichever you prefer.

Will the same guys I saw be at my event?

Unless someone is sick or out of town, yes. You get the same five musicians at every show. If a sub is ever needed, you approve them first or you can cancel. No bait and switch.

Do you use prerecorded tracks?

No. If you hear a background vocal or a keyboard part, one of us is singing or playing it.

Can we pick the songs?

Yes. We send you our song list. Tell us what you really want and what you never want to hear, and we write the rest of the set for your crowd. If you want a song we don't know, we can learn it for $500 per song. It takes real rehearsal time for five people.

Are you loud?

We're a party band, not dinner music, and drums only get so quiet. If you need us softer, we can do it, and we've worked within plenty of noise rules.

Do you wear costumes or wigs?

No. We dress sharply in black and white stage clothes and match how formal your event is.

How long does setup take?

With our sound, 90 minutes to two hours including sound check. With the venue's sound, about 20 minutes. Teardown is an hour or less with sound, 15 to 20 minutes for just the band.

How do we pay you?

Zelle, cash, check, PayPal, Venmo, Apple Cash, ACH or credit card. Card and non-friends PayPal payments add the processing fee. Large companies that need NET 30 invoicing can do that for a 10% premium.

Anything else? Ask in the booking form and we'll answer with your quote.

Bars, clubs and restaurants

We've played Gaslamp in Long Beach every Friday for over 20 years, so we don't play other bars, clubs or restaurants within five miles of The Gaslamp. Farther out, club shows start at a $3,000 minimum guarantee with venue sound, and we'd rather talk about a series than a one-off. Private parties, city concerts and public one-offs are welcome anywhere.
